"The Legend of Hollow Sleepy" relates the story of Ichabod Crane, a Connecticut-based slim, lanky and exceedingly supreme teacher who competed for the hand of 18-year-old Katrina Van Tassel with Abraham "Brom Bones" Van Brunt, the town troublemaker. When Crane departs a party, it is followed by Headless Horseman, which allegedly is the spectator of a Hessian soldier, who had a stray cannonball thrown at his head during the American Revolutionary War's "nameneless struggle," "riding towards the site of fighting, in a nightly search for his head." It's a true tale and it needs to be read.
